Yellow Violet

The links below will take you to the resources that helped me identify what we found. Identifying flowers is like a treasure hunt for me; I like playing detective. The only ones I knew were Wake Robin, Violets & the Trout Lily.
From left to right: Dutchman's Breeches, Fraser's Sedge, Cut-leaved Toothwort,
Wake Robin, Chickweed, Trout Lily, & False Hellebore.
Question of the day:
If you were a wildflower, which one would you be?
I've been in love with wild violets forever - so I'm going with that one. beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteNever saw a yellow violent! That's so beautiful. And I think my favorite is the Wake Robin, another flower I've never seen.
ReplyDeleteWe have a falls with trails near our home (15 miles) and this makes me want to go in search of the flowers there. All I've ever noticed was Trillium but maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention :)
Did I actually write "yellow violent"? Gads.....violet, violet, violet!
ReplyDeleteLove the wild violets, I didn't know they are yellow (since violet means... purplish). I think if I am a wild flower, I'll choose bluebells :-)
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt I would be a Disa, a wild orchid that grows on the scraggiest and highest of cliffs.
ReplyDeleteThe first shot is great!
Oh and your comment had me laughing yesterday. Thanks! My home is open...
WOW a yellow violet! I've never seen one before! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI would be a white Trillium.... (you called the purple one Wake Robin) Because they are one of the first flowers of the season,... with so much promise of good things to come. Your shot of the yellow violets is so artistic,... Excellent catch!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures!
ReplyDeletethey are great photos of flowers
ReplyDeleteThankyou so much for sharing them
These are beauties! I'd be Wild Chickory!
ReplyDeleteCarol
I think I would be a Waratah, beautiful, bold red basking in the Australian sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow violets too
Your photos are beautiful!! The Narrow-Leaved Spring Beauty is my favourite flower, and Dutchman's Breeches is my favourite flower name :-) I wonder who came up with it!!
ReplyDeleteKelly @ DesignTies
I'd be a foxglove, beautiful and deadly. =) Actually, they are really quite helpful medicinally. Beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking...LOVE it!
ReplyDeletelove the first line of your haiku! have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeletePerfect for a long and dull Friday in the semi-cubicle... :)
ReplyDeletepoet with the pen and lens! out of this group i lean towards the wake robin...such a color like the symmetrical leaves...cool name.
ReplyDeletei am so glad to visit your space you leave me refreshed!

Oh, and I'd probably be lichen. :D Ok, it's not a flower. It's an organism, really. It's a symbiotic relationship between a moss and a bacteria. A misfit. :D
ReplyDelete* oops, not an organism. :D
ReplyDelete*runs away*
*runs back*
ReplyDeleteOr maybe it's a fungus, not a moss.
*runs away again*
so lovely. i love wildflowers. i too have never seen a yellow violet. (until now).
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by and your sweet comments.
i'm adding your blog to my blogroll.
Gorgeous photos! My husband says that all wildflowers are weeds and I tell him that all weeds are wild beauties that haven't been tamed ;)
ReplyDeleterue
I love violets but I tend to lean towards the purple ones :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and haiku. Will you be posting more photos from the hike?
ReplyDeleteLovely haiku and beautiful blossoms. I appreciate you identifying each because many are new to me ;--)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Beautiful wildflowers!
ReplyDeleteI like flowers in the wild more than in a garden. Just wonderful to see the flowers pop up in the middle of the woods.
You're a real nature expert now, my dear! All I know is "some kind of flower" and "ooo big tree!" LOL - well done :-)
ReplyDeletebeautiful pics! The yellow violets are great! I have never seen one either! :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI tried to identify a leaf in a photo yesterday. When I'd get to the end of the "identify questionnaire", the leaf never looked like the leaf that they told me it was. and every time it was a different answer. Clearly I am not good at this, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd be that Fraser one. :)
beautiful! What a fun thing to find the names of all those nameless beauties.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous photo skills you have!
ReplyDeletePlease stop by my blog. I am hosting a 200th post giveaway.
They are all so pretty, must have been a nice walk!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos...just love the beauty and freedom of wildflowers. Some seed companies and/or state wildlife programmes give away free seeds with no obligation.
ReplyDeleteI think I would be a violet too - love the yellow ones. Very nice selection of flowers. We are stil waiting forours to bloom!
ReplyDeleteThese are such lovely flowers. We are just starting now to see wildflowers on our weekly hikes. Today I identified Trailing arbutus, also known as mayflower. I was hoping it could be used as a topical skin herb, like to treat bug bites and such... according to my research it's good diuretic. Doesn't do me much good in relieving itchy bug bites though!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely pretty wild flowers! I've always loved wild flowers. =)
ReplyDeleteIt's really something to know all the names.
i love that you took these photos and identified them for us. I'm like you, finding a wildflower and then trying to discover the name is so much fun - and satisfying.
ReplyDeleteof these my favorite is the wake robin
