SOC Tree

The original photo, to me, seemed so very plain. Looking at the image on screen left me with the feeling that something was missing. Initially, I didn't pay this shot any mind, but after sorting though, I thought "What they hay", let's see what I come up with. I can't even tell you exactly what I did to the post-processed version step by step, but either way, I liked the way this originally boring and mundane shot turned out. It's got a sort of spooky antique feel to it, don't you think? Even though it may look like it, I didn't use an Infrared filter, in case you were wondering. In it's own right, the SOC (straight-out-camera) shot is okay from a technical standpoint, the colors are nice, it follows the rule of 3rds, and the lines are appealing, but overall, nothing is spectacular about it. Not that I think the finished product is the most amazing piece of work ever, but I like that my impression of it was so easily changed by some minor alterations.

As Cody inadvertently pointed out to me today, I am slowly becoming a little more open minded, and something that I wouldn't have given much thought to, let's say a year ago, is something I have begun to think about. And I'm not really talking about any "thing" in particular, I'm just pointing out a realization that was made. I like to be reminded that I am continuously growing, and my circumstances are not going to remain the same, not that I don't like where I am. What I mean is that, by this time next year, I will have lived and learned, essentially molding me into a new me, a different Jessica..........there was a time when I was afraid of change, and I was scared of the what ifs that consumed my mind........Now, I warmly welcome the prospect of what may come, and I no longer have that fear of not being in complete control of what may have made me uncomfortable once upon a time.
This is a very freeing conclusion for me..........

How do you feel about change? Oh yeah, and which photo do you prefer?

*I haven't been so inclined to take any TtV shots recently, so here is a quasi-replacement for the ~Juxtapose~. The first image is SOC (straight-out-camera), the second has some minor brightness/contrast adjustments, and the third has had a complete make-over, using cross-processing. Personally, I like the final, cross-processed version, especially compared to the drab and nearly colorless original.
I'd love to know which one you like better out of the three.

A Comparison.................

It all started when I stumbled across this website www.grocerylist.org that I grew this new found fascination in grocery lists of different sorts that I found lying around. I'm not sure exactly what intrigued me the most when I found "my" very first list but I didn't want to leave it there. Not that it's some magic window to ones soul but it is something personal in a way, although I would probably never know exactly who it was that wrote the list in the first place. I myself am a very avid list writer. At any given time I can have several different lists going at one time. Some may find that to be rather annoying, I on the other hand find that to be the ONLY way for me to remember things when I get an idea or wot knot. Sometimes I nearly forget what I want to write down before I can reach a pen & paper which by the way is usually close in proximity. I think that my affinity for finding lists is almost as great as making lists.
I also put up this post as a comparative for handwriting in response to a post I saw on another bloggers website. Nuri if you see this let me know what you think!

*UPDATE: Today is my Friday and boy I couldn't be happier! Especially since tomorrow we finally get internet and cable at the new place. It's been nice though sitting around when Cody gets home and talking about random nonsense. Hopefully we can continue with that even though the cable and internet are coming. When I get home I have about an hour before Cody gets there and without the internet I've just found stuff to do. I would either put up a box of stuff, continue the Harry Potter saga, wash dishes, etc. Maybe it should be some sort of rule not to turn the TV on until a certain time or something. Last night we watched a movie but not until like 8:30 or so. Hmmm, we'll see how it goes I suppose.
