Sunday Flurry

Snowy Banks

First Snow
by Mary Louise Allen

Snow makes whiteness where it falls
The bushes look like popcorn balls
And places where I always play
Look like somewhere else today

Popcorn Balls

Beautiful feathery flakes of snow
Over the woodland and field they go
Making a blanket so warm and deep
Over the flowers that lie asleep

Snowy Street

I have eagerly awaited a snow day such as this. To see the valley blanketed in white.
Thankfully, it decided to come on a weekend so that we were actually able to enjoy it.
Compared to the gloomy rain we were having just days before, the snow was welcomed.
We walked to the park not far from our house with the snow tube in tow.
It feels strange to say but this was my first time doing so.
I had a blast! A very fun snow day, indeed.

Do I have the most infectious laugh or what!?!? Okay, maybe obnoxious, whichever.

  3. What perfect captures of a snow day. It appears that it wasn't a sunny day upon snow, but with a contemplative sky holding the scene. I'm so glad you had a great day like this. The snow days we had here in December are ones I'm still holding close to my heart.

  4. How nice would a snow day be? I am looking forward to the cooler weather of autumn and yet we have another waring of extreme fire danger for the next 3 day with conditions the worst since black Saturday.

You have really captured the essence of beauty in these shots.

  8. wow such beauty in these photos and words.
I was so happy to see the snow here but it didn't last long and I didn't have anyone to play in it with so that was a bummer. Looks like you two had a blast. makes me somewhat jealous.

  11. Lucky, lucky, lucky!!!
It's wonderful when it snows like that... everything is quiet except the snow crystals clicking as they fall.
I can't believe no one else was out sledding!! I would have loved it.
Beautiful images too! Good eye for composition, J.

  22. Beautiful! I absolutely LOVE these photos. Pure perfection.

We had a nice snow on Saturday, but with our crazy Missouri weather, it didn't take long for it to melt off on Sunday. I was just glad we had another glimpse of snow before Spring settles in. ;)

Looks like you had a WONDERFUL time "playing".

  27. THIS IS FOR CODY'S EYE'S ONLY??? CODY DON'T FALL INTO THIS TRAP??? To Be 6 Again
A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife, looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her birthday.

'I'd like to be six again', she replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park. What a day!

He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Monster roller coaster, everything there was.

Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down.

He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted. He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like being six again?'

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed. 'I meant my dress size, you idiot!!!!'

The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong.
