Imagination Fabrication

Orchid Bokeh

You cannot depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.
~Mark Twain~

It's been a long time since I shared a before and after shot.
I liked the SOC shot, but I didn't think it was anything special.
However, when I came across the photo later,
I decided to mess with it in photoshop.
Here is the original shot, below.

SOC Orchid

Re-watching the movie "The Prestige" could have very well put
this thought in my head, but when I looked at these two shots
side-by-side, I thought, "Sometimes, you have to make
your own magic!"

Anyone have anything exciting brewing right now?
Please share :)

  1. I love that you made your own magic with that shot. And magic it certainly is! Gorgeous.
The final presidential debate is brewing. May they both get down to business and answer the questions!

  2. We did some yard cleaning last week and pulled down some of our gorgeous blue morning glory vines. We tossed them in the compost heap as usual.
Was I ever surprised a few days ago when I took some branches to throw away. The Morning glorys are blooming. They've taken root again.
    Amazing!

  3. I am going on a long weekend away in 3 weekend’s time. I am off to Tassie (Tasmania) I got cheap flights and taking the kids and my mum. So hopeful I will get some good photos of bottom part of my country to share with you.

I am looking forward to taking a break for a few days.

The photo looks great. Sometimes all you need is an idea to create a great result. knowing what you want to create is what I find the hardest part of the process.

  6. I like the original too. It's softer.

But yes, sometimes you do have to cater to your imagination by whatever means necessary. ;D

  10. I don't know if I'd put it in the "exciting" column, but I'm going to be photographing a wedding on October 25th. It's going to be a late-afternoon, small family wedding. I'm friends with the groom's sister and had photographed his niece's quinceaƱera (15th birthday party). These things always make me nervous, but they do help boost my confidence in weird ways.

  11. You know who's also magic?

    Christian Bale.

He was in The Prestige, right? Or was he in that OTHER antiquated magician movie that randomly came out at the same time?

  12. J: Yeah it was Christian Bale, and I totally agree with you, he's magic. He is, without question my most favorite male actor.

Oh and the other movie was The Illusionist with Edward Norton. I love magic movies!
