Luminescent Essence

Pleasure is very seldom found where it is sought. Our brightest blazes are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks.
~Samuel Johnson~

A couple of Cody's friends are in town this weekend and they are staying with us.
After breakfast this morning we headed to the disc golf course in Ashe County.
We were only able to get through half of the 18 hole course since they were holding a tournament.
It was a very scenic course, we had a fun-filled day.

On the way home, we took the scenic route through Todd.
Bordering the New River almost the entire way,
it was a leisurely drive that we all enjoyed.

We ended the day cooking out.
The kabobs were delicious!

Hope you're all having a great weekend so far.

  1. Sounds like you are having a fun weekend. I love the sharpness in this photo a the detail of the veins in the petals.

  2. What a lovely photograph of hydrangeas, (did I spell it right?). I love what you do with whites and cream colors! Roxanne

  3. Those look like the other hydrangeas you photographed but with more texture to them. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower to photograph.

  4. Sounds like a great weekend - I've always wanted to try disc golf!

  5. Some golf is better than no golf. Last night I found a small Hydrangea hidden behind some other plants and it was in full bloom.

  6. Such a lovely haiku and photo to match!

  7. liss: It was definitely an eventful weekend! I liked the water droplet most of all....

rivergarden: Thanks, and you did spell it correctly....haha

Arnold: It was in fact the same bush, just a different medium. Polaroid style shows just enough detail eh? I think this may be my first time photographing a hydrangea!

please sir: It's a lot of fun, I'm not very good at it.....but it doesn't matter since we don't keep score anyways :o)

lydia: I think that is the shortest comment yet.....haha.....j/k

greg: I am seeing these flower everywhere now, I love the purplish blue ones the best. I have never played 'real' golf before.....

    laura: Thank you :o)

    Pod: haha, thanks.

  8. Sounds like a great time! I love when I get fun visitors because that is when I get off my butt and do things I don't usually do.

  9. Mmm yummy! and delightful... I haven't had a bbq yet and summer is half-over. hmm. where do you live again? LOL :-D

  10. Such a gorgeous photo and amazing detail! :)

  11. The delicate veins, the button centres, the water droplet, the poetic text...all lovely!

  12. I love your quotes.... and that picture of the hydrangeas is just beautiful.

  13. 1218: Visitors are also good for taking your mind off the heavy stuff!

TD: Betta get to grillin'! You're always welcome to hope on down to NC :o)

    angie: Thank you!
