Talkeetna. Where three rivers meet.
The Talkeetna, Chulitna, and Susitna,
converge here to become the Big Susitna drainage.
The historic village of Talkeetna is nestled at the base of Mount McKinley
(Denali), North America's tallest peak.
The town is halfway between, Anchorage and Denali National Park.
Alaska is definitely a travel destination on my list of places to visit.

ReplyDeletethat does look gorgeous! I've only made one short trip to Alaska and am two years overdue now for a visit (two very dear friends live there).
ReplyDeletehey - I was reading your old Postcard blogs. I have at least one, possibly more, postcards left over from previous trips (I tend to buy them and forget to mail them out) that I will happily send along if you're interested. Just send along your address ..
Oh this is on my travel wish list too! I think I will have to keep dreaming for a little while longer.

Always fun receiving postcards. Love this one. I'm a big fan of the North. Would love to go to Alaska or Nunavut or Northwest Territories or Yukon myself!
ReplyDeleteAlaska is on my list too. Last night we watched The Notebook and I started thinking about all the things I need to do.
ReplyDeletethis is a stunning scene! it looks so inviting...but i always think of it as cold, cold even though i know it is not much different in summer than here in the northwest.
ReplyDeletemy husband and stepson zach went on a canoe trip in the alaska wilderness last summer... but is was meant to be a difficult and challenging trip. dropped in the wilderness and then float and camp for 2 weeks. they had a great time. light all day and night. amazing experience!
I would LOVE to visit Alaska. I have a friend who went once and he had some of the most amazing photos I've ever seen. You'll have to plan a trip and then show us all your pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous postcard of Alaska. It's definitely somewhere I long to go too.
ReplyDeleteI have a girlfriend who is on her way home from her trip to Alaska. Her and the hubby to a very long road trip. She had an amazing time.
ReplyDeleteOoh, it looks gorgeous! I think I'll add it to my list of places to visit too!
ReplyDeleteThis post card put a crazy big smile on my face. Before babies & hubbies (just one) I backpacked in Alaska one summer & spent 7 days in Denali, eating wild blueberries and talking loudly with my friend to keep Grizzlies away (or maybe it was the body odor). The people in Alaska are so amazingly hospitable & welcoming. Thanks!
ReplyDeletePretty!! I'd go there too.
