Greeting From Freiburg

Greetings From: Freiburg

I received this some time last week.
Before this postcard, I had never heard of Freiburg before.
Have you?

On the edge of the beautiful Black Forest, Freiburg is close to both France and Switzerland.
Because of its scenic beauty, relatively warm and sunny climate and easy
access to the Black Forest, Freiburg is a hub for regional tourism.

What I found to be most interesting is that,
Freiburg
has acquired recognition for being one of the 'greenest cities' in the world.
With their strong standard for building eco-friendly housing and maintaining
car-free streets in many areas, they have set an example of sustainability.
The citizens of Freiburg are known in Germany for their love of cycling and recycling!

I didn't find any photos that allowed sharing without permission,
so I will share this link to a beautiful portfolio of images I found.
Take a look at Freiburg.
The architecture is magnificent,
I was really blown away by how lovely that little city is.

  1. I love going on these little mini vacations through your blog. I've only been to Eastern Europe & hope to see more of Europe when my daughters are older... The cutie pie picture of the deer was great too.

  2. I have been through the Black Forest...it is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world! The best part is all the little villages tucked in the lush valleys...often with the white church spire waving among the trees. There is a magical quality about the area! I highly recommend going if you ever get the opportunity!

  3. I would LOVE to go to Freiburg. I studied German in college (because all the Spanish classes were too hard to get into!). I think it would be a fascinating place to visit.

Plus my maiden name is German, so it would be fun to see where my ancestors came from. Too bad we don't have the dough to go to Disneyland, let alone Europe!

Thanks for the mini vacation though! It was lovely while it lasted.

  5. This is a great photo site.
I’ve been here. Dresden is near by and is another beautiful city rich in history.

  6. Too funny! I lived in Freiburg for 3 months in my other lifetime... can't say I saw much of it or that I cared at the time, how dumb of my youth was that. Mutter. I'd give anything to go back.
