Love....it goes both ways

Love, it goes both ways

When I took this photo on our backpacking trip this past weekend,
I didn't realize that its message would pack such a punch.
I'm taking it from all sides today, figuratively getting hit with a left and a right.
Secretly, I have been reminding myself of this thought in an effort to subdue others.

There's one sad truth in life I've found
While journeying east and west -
The only folks we really wound
Are those we love the best.
We flatter those we scarcely know,
We please the fleeting guest,
And deal full many a thoughtless blow
To those who love us best.
~Ella Wheeler Wilcox~

Tonight, I need to get some much needed rest......

  3. Great photo. What kind of plant is that. I remember seeing a begonia with leaves shaped like that but they were dark green.

  4. Thank you so much for that poem. I've been ruminating on (you know chewing, chewing and partially digesting) the mortality of my loved ones and how I treat them while they are alive and well.

  16. oh man .. I think that all the time. Poor Atlas is the one that suffers; he lives with me so on the rare occasions that I am cross, he's usually the one there.

    great photo!

  17. YES!
I have been going through this full moon nuttiness.
This speaks to me. One person who remains constant for the most part is Julian. He is so cognizant of the fact that now may be the only moments he has, so he treats us all royally. I need reminding though.

  19. What a find...and yet, of course, the leaves didn't form hearts pointing different ways until you saw them that way and photographed them that way...the intial photoshop is always in the mind...or maybe my mind is just drifting in weird ways and I need sleep....

  24. There is so much truth in the beautiful words that you have written here Jess. So true, that my heart hurts as I read it, as I am going through something very similar right now......

The image you have captured is so precious. Nature holds so many hidden treasures, and only people with eyes like yours are able to notice them. Thank you for sharing this image with us, and thank you for sharing your writings too.

    Take care my friend xx
