Autumn Omission
The acoustics of the season tend to change as the month wears on, most of the trees are, for lack of a better term, naked now. I can't help but gawk at the branches and how beautiful they look against the sky. What lies beneath is just as interesting to me as they were with the changing leaves. I can appreciate a tree in any condition it seems, although this picture wasn't really about a tree.
This picture was inspired by the lonely chair I spotted behind an abandoned house located on Hwy 105, which is a main stretch of road I travel on occasion. I saw it, oh probably about a month ago, and instantly had the urge to pull over and photograph the lone chair, but I resisted.
Until the perfect day came along, and I was prepared, it wasn't really meant to happen. On the way home from Grandfather 2 weekends ago I finally decided it was time I brought my idea to full fruition. Cody definitely helped motivate me as well, the awesome assistant he is. Okay, that's sort of our joke, that he's my assistant - sets up the tripod, carries the equipment, etc. What are your thoughts about the lone chair, or have you ever had the idea to photograph something out of the ordinary?
Anyhow, the mission was accomplished and I was pretty pleased with the results.
What a great photo. I love taking pictures of "weird' or unusual things. Unexpected normalcy in an unnatural setting that catches my eye. Especially in large cities. I have to admit I do find urban settings more interesting, but I am learning to like the wild ones as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks! They are most certainly like night and day, that's for sure. I'm so small-town now, and don't make it to the city too often, haha. To my defense though I have become a lot more malleable when I am away from my beautiful landscapes........
ReplyDeleteI love this photograph - it is so mournful. How the heck are you going narrow down all your wonderful pics to find the competition winner?
ReplyDeleteThanks Sian, well there are categories so the photos I chose will have to fit in one of the seven they have which may help in narrowing down a bit. So, you think I may have a chance? There are some really great photographers around here........
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely shot!
ReplyDeleteThank you Nina....
ReplyDeleteA great photograph, great composition and great colour. They say a photograph says a thousand words. This one fills me with sadness... I'm not sure why... I agree with sian that it is mournful. There is a real sense of hollowness, unhappiness, solitude, loneliness. Any photograph that captures the imagination is a truly pricesless photograph.
ReplyDeleteI have just spent a couple of hours wandering through your amazing collection of photographs, with a cup of tea in my hand. You have an abundance of amazing photographs... all of them more than worthy to enter any competion or hang on any wall.
You have a great gift in your vision and your creativity.
