Monthly Wrap Up : October

I am FAR behind, I know, but oh well!!
There was a point in the month that I said, "I just can't do both!".
I didn't want to break my neck to keep up, it would have stressed me out too much.
That's the last thing I needed. As long as I continued with the challenge, I was okay.
When I updated wasn't as important. I actually like that I am so far behind.
It gave me a chance to go back through all the neat things we did in October!

Here are some highlights:

Remember my trip to Atlanta?
In particular, the Botanical Gardens?

Keep on the Sunnyside

What about Oktoberfest in Helen, Ga.
where we boogied down with the chicken dance?

Or the historic Linn Cove Viaduct, remember that?

I remember when we were all knee deep in fall.....
it wasn't that long ago!

Again, this is the long overdue monthly wrap-up for October.
I am nearing the end of my photo-a-day challenge,
but I still need to upload all of November!
SERENITY NOW!! haha

Monthly Wrap Up : September

As I look back upon the month, I can recall the many
moments of creative inspiration I experienced as the days went by.

The next few shots are some of my favorites from last month.

Sea of Gold

How I found so many new things to appreciate.
Like ambling through our "empty" field next door.

Luminous

Or the excitement I felt when I found the last stitch of light in my yard.

Marigold Bokeh

And then there was that day when I spotted some colorful flowers from the car.
I thought about them many times throughout the day.
Naturally, I went back to get my shots.

Creature of the Night

Finding the unexpected kept things interesting.
I love when that happens.

Cotton Candy Skies

And in this case, the icing on the cake would be the "Cotton Candy Skies".
I could have picked half of this months photos as a favorite, really.
And I would even go so far as to say that, this was my best month yet.
So, instead of doing those links like I normally do for

the monthly wrap up, how about another quasi-slide show!?!?
It's not a real slide show because the photos won't cycle on their own,
so to view the images, just click the thumbnails.

I'm extremely happy about how September went for
me in terms of the monthly challenge. I stayed inspired.
I can always tell when I'm going through one of those splendid periods
because I get really behind on the {366} Photographic Journal blog.
Here we are mid-October, and I'm just now getting through September!
I'm being flexible. It will get done.

For the most part, I am happy with what I posted in August.
Although closer to the end of the month I began to get a little lazy.
Truth be told, I am still feeling that way,
which hasn't started September off very well.
But I'll get it updated soon enough.

I think that by the time I get the hang of two blogs, the project will be over!
It's not easy keeping up with both of them, but I know this was self imposed.
With that being said, I have learned so much since I first began the challenge;
it really has made all the difference in my photography.

Seven Down.......

I really can't believe that we are already in the month of August!
I seemed to have been about 10 photos behind the entire month, even so,
I didn't fret......I did what I could with the time I could spare.

Taking baby steps is a little frustrating when you want to hop on a
pogo stick and bounce away. Why a pogo stick?
Well, I suppose it's because, if I were on one, I'd be going in all sorts of directions.
No clear path in mind, just gravity pulling me this way and that.
It doesn't bother me so much anymore.
I'm a little more easy going than I once was, which in turn....are you with me?!
Makes things easier!

This month I really had to limit myself with the favorites,
it really would have defeated the purpose
if they were ALL favorites!

Six Down......

"{366} Photographic Journal"

In one short month I have been through so many different phases. Some of those moments I would be on top of the world, and others, well, I was stuck in a rut. This constant flux of balance and imbalance is something I have learned to deal with. Especially since my physical state plays an enormous part in how I am able to handle these ups and downs. Pain is very humbling.

When I look back over the course of a mere months time, I am reminded of the tiny tidbits - good and bad - that have escaped my mind. I have these souvenirs of astounding beauty I have beheld, and a record of the goals I/we have accomplished, some of which may have seemed insignificant at the point in time they took place.

This project of taking a photograph everyday for an entire year has worked wonders for how I see with my eyes, mind, and heart. My goal of turning nothing into something never ceases to surprise me. Before me is proof that practice makes 'perfect', all the while emphasizing the fact that I have so much more to learn, and a long way to go! I'm also beginning to recognize a path that is undeniably mine to follow laying right beneath my feet. I have never been more sure or passionate about anything in my life. However refreshing that revelation may be, it still scares the tar out of me.

Bring on the ADVENTURE!!

~Love Notes~

Here is the first photo I told you about in the last post, which talked about me experimenting with photoshop.
The idea spawned from the background I used for the ArtCard shown below in this post.
The paper reads Je t'aime, which as some of you may know, means "I Love You" in French.

I knew I wanted those words merged with a photo.
Although I didn't know which photo they would work with, but after a little searching, I found one.
By itself, the photo was uninteresting.
After the additions, or let me rephrase that in photoshop talk, the layers really added a lot of interest to the TtV photo - in my opinion.
I really am in love with this photo now........hence the title "Love Notes".....

Love Notes

Update: This week has been somewhat of a blur........
I'll go ahead and confess now, instead of waiting until the end of the month......not just one, but two days this week went by without me taking a photo.
My first excuse being, I reminded myself before I started getting ready for bed, but somewhere during the brush my teeth, hair, yada yada drill......I forgot :(

The second excuse........yesterday was very rough and stressful for me......I'll spare you the details, but when I got home, I had a headache and was just exhausted! I passed out on the couch as I was resting my eyes around 6:30........I woke up somewhere around 7:30 and moved to the bed.......Cody woke me up at 9:45 to eat dinner......I stayed up till 11, then went back to bed.........Strangely enough......I woke up tired!?!?! I very rarely come home and go to sleep, my problem is usually going to bed too late. Last night was probably my body's way of saying, "Slow down, take it easy!".......

I'm so happy that tomorrow is Friday!! And am looking forward to some quality R & R this weekend. Sleeping out in the woods would be ideal.......we've been thinking about going camping. Who knows, we'll see, maybe the forecast will cooperate?

R O M A N C E

There is a pretty clear theme running through this post.
I'll let you decide what it may mean to you.
But I'll tell you how it started for me........
Do you remember me telling you about my new prompt for making ArtCards?
The Fortune Cookie Affirmation?
Maybe?!
Well, on top of amassing the cookie fortunes, I started saving the tabs from my yogi tea bags to put in the pot as well.
So that's why the piece of paper on the back of the card, is not rectangular like a fortune cookie fortune - in case you were wondering.
So this was my interpretation of the affirmation I pulled.
I know it's very Valentine's Day-ish, but that's just how it all came together in the end.

Romance Back

Shall we compare our hearts to a garden -
with beautiful blooms, straggling weeds,
swooping birds and sunshine, rain -
and most importantly, seeds.

Five Down........

It took me some time to get back into the groove of taking photos of my 'normal' everyday life. Maybe I was still stuck in Big Sur, or maybe it was because I was still trying to get over that wicked crud I picked up before or while we were on vacation. But thankfully, that lack of stimulation I felt didn't continue to influence the entire month.

After what I went through to get home from California, believe me, I was happy to be back in familiar surroundings. One thing we noticed upon our homecoming was the metamorphosis that took place in our yard while we were away for 9 days. The waist-high grass aside, so many beautiful trees, bushes, and flowers were in bloom. A dogwood tree, a blazing neon pink azalea bush, iris', phlox, & buttercups......you name it! Once the yard was mowed (with the help of an awesome neighbor!) it was so exciting to walk around and discover the new life springing up everywhere.

Because inspiration was located right outside my back door - although unintentional - the theme for the month became FLOWERS. Which over the next few months may just be reoccurring since I love them so much. And because I have a splendid new NC Wildflower Hike Book that points us to the good stuff!! Either way, I am thrilled that I am back to my old ways where taking photos seems like less of a chore, and more of a necessity.

Four Down......

"{366} Photographic Journal"

At the beginning of April I was pretty pleased with the photos I was churning out. As it stands now, It's been some what of a struggle for me to finish up the month. I've had a time going through the vacation photos - good and bad, which has put me severely behind. But I am finally done with April.

My worst fear came to fruition this month, I forgot to take a photo! The day in particular was when we were going to California, I suppose that the traveling threw me off, and I simply forgot. I was so mad at myself, over and over, I would say "I can't believe I ruined it!?", and Cody would say, "It's not the end of the world." I felt like it was at the time, I made up for it ten fold while we were in Big Sur. Looking back, it wasn't that big of a deal.

In all honesty, May has been even more of a struggle. I just haven't been really motivated to take any photos, so the next batch may be a little uninspired. As always, I just want to thank you all for the tremendous amount of support you supply - it means the world to me!
